Today, the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has published 23 inspection reports on residential settings for older people. HIQA monitors designated centres for compliance with Health Act Regulations and the National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland.

Seven centres received an announced full-18 Outcome inspection. One centre received an announced 10 Outcome inspection. No major non-compliances were found on these inspections.

Fifteen unannounced inspections were carried out as follow-up, 10 Outcome or single specific issue inspections. Six of these reports identified risks or issues that impacted on residents’ quality of life.

Major non-compliances found in today’s reports related to Health and Social Care Needs, Medicines Management, Governance and Management, and Safe and Suitable Premises.
