About us
Health Information
What is the role of Health Information?
Health information involves setting standards for the collection and sharing of information across Ireland’s health and social care services, evaluating and publishing information about the delivery and performance of the services. Accurate and timely information is central to a safe and efficient health and social care system.
What do we do?
We support informed decision-making by publishing information on Ireland's health and social care services, advising on the collection and sharing of information across health and social care services and on the implementation of information technologies.
To help to ensure that high quality health and social care information is available to support the delivery, planning and monitoring of services, our work will focus on:
- Setting health information standards for all aspects of health and social care information
- Developing guidelines for the collection and use of information in health and social care
- Identifying gaps in health information and making recommendations to fill them
- Making relevant information about our health and social care services available to the public.
